Day 1 - Listen to the story...
Breakfast, with pastries and seasonal local produce , served in the breakfast room by the fireside, or on the hôtel terrace with its lovely view.
In peace and quiet, beneath the gentle morning light, this is the perfect moment for visiting Saint-Cirq-Lapopie, one of the "Most Beautiful Villages in France". In the mediaeval village, you'll see the church of Saint Cyr-Sainte-Julitte, some fine houses, museums, artist's studios, boutiques...
Time for a break - Le Saint-Cirq Gourmand can provide picnic baskets so that you can enjoy regional specialities whilst having a romantic picnic beside the river.
Head for the Château de Cénevières, 9 minutes away by car, provided that you don't stop off on the way to take photos ! Guided tour provided by the proprietors of this luxurious Renaissance palace, a listed Historic Monument. Enjoy the panorama over the Lot valley from the terraces.
Time for tea, and to taste the traditional apple pastry of Quercy, “Lou Pastis” on the terrace of Le Saint-Cirq Gourmand, who make a speciality of this. Enjoy this moment, and the view over the village of Saint-Cirq-Lapopie
Return to the hôtel for some well-earned relaxation. A “little snooze” followed by a length or two in one of the hôtel's 3 pools, outdoor or indoor, according to season.
Take advantage of the free bus transfer to try our traditional local cuisine in the village (truffles, duck, saffron, walnuts, cabécou goat's cheese…), at the Le Gourmet Quercynois restaurant, or at La Tonnelle, rue de la Peyrolerie.
Day 2 - A well-being break
After an energising breakfast, head for the towpath to explore, as you take a short 3 kms return walk, the natural river, the history of boat traffic on the Lot and the way that men have fashioned the cliffs over time.
Now you're ready for a massage session in our well-being centre. A session of extreme relaxation, to enable you to continue exploring this lovely hilly country during the afternoon.
Lunch in the village of Saint-Cirq-Lapopie. A leg of duck confit under the pretty arbour in the Rue de la Peyrolerie, or perhaps a slow-cooked knuckle of lamb at Le Gourmet Quercynois.
Less than 20 minutes away by car, visit the cool, refreshing Pech Merle cave in Cabrerets. Immerse yourself in prehistory and become an expert in concretions and animal paintings dating back over 25000 years.
Drop in at the Wine Museum-cum-shop in Saint-Cirq-Lapopie and choose some local specialities to take home with you and prolong your break (walnut oil, foie gras, a bottle of local wine…)
Return to the hôtel and relax a while, enjoy a last tête-à-tête in your room or on your private terrace. Raid your mini-bar for champagne or local drinks to go with a meal basket ordered from the Saint-Cirq Gourmand.
Now for a very special, intimate moment in our well-being centre, which you reserve for yourselves in advance at the reception desk, to round off this romantic break.
